Accessible Shore Excursions in Agadir: Planning Guide

Limited mobility should not mean staying on board. Agadir is in many ways an easier Moroccan port than cities with steep, crowded old medinas: much of it was rebuilt after 1960, with wide streets and a long, flat seafront. Some of its best-known sights, however, are on hills, in busy markets or on rocky paths.

This guide, written by our local team in Agadir, gives an honest picture of what is easier and what is harder, and explains how we plan a port day around specific needs. Every situation is different, so the most important step is simple: tell us about your needs before you book, and our team will confirm what is realistic for your group and your time in port.

Before your port day: talk to your ship and to us

Two conversations make the day much smoother.

  1. With your cruise line. Ships berth inside the Port of Agadir. Ask the ship how you will leave the ship on the day, whether assistance is available and whether the port shuttle (if offered on your call) can take your wheelchair or mobility aid.
  2. With us, before booking. Describe your needs in as much detail as you can (see the checklist below). We can often adapt a private tour, with more time, fewer stops or a different route. We will discuss transport with you and tell you honestly what is realistic; we do not want you to discover a problem on the day.

On the day, your driver waits at the Port of Agadir cruise terminal holding a sign with your name. The meeting point is sent by WhatsApp before your call, so you know where to go and can tell us if anything has changed. Our guide to meeting your driver at the cruise terminal walks through the morning step by step.

What is easier and what is harder in Agadir

Generally easier

  • The beach promenade: a long, flat seafront walkway lined with cafés.
  • The marina: a modern waterfront close to the port, with cafés and shops.
  • Panoramic drives: much of the city can be enjoyed from the vehicle, with short stops where it suits you.

Generally harder

  • The Kasbah ruins (Agadir Oufella): the hill is steep and the ground at the top is uneven. The road and the cable car make the views reachable, but the ruins involve slopes and loose surfaces.
  • Souk El Had: large, busy and uneven underfoot, with narrow aisles at times.
  • Paradise Valley: the walk to the pools is on rocky, uneven paths and is generally not suitable for travellers with limited mobility.
  • Dunes and beaches away from the promenade: soft sand is difficult for wheels and tiring on foot.

Conditions change, and what is fine for one traveller is not for another, so treat this as a starting point for the conversation rather than a guarantee.

Tour ideas to discuss with us

These tours are good starting points for an adapted plan. Whether and how they can be adapted depends on your needs, so please contact us before booking.

  • Half-day Agadir city tour: a large part of the tour is a drive between the Kasbah viewpoint, the Mohammed V Mosque, an argan oil cooperative, Souk El Had and the seafront. Stops can often be shortened or skipped.
  • Teleferic panoramic cable car ride: wide views of the bay. Ask us about boarding the cable car and the ground at the top before you book.
  • Crocoparc: a garden setting with paths; ask us about distances and surfaces for your situation.

For a short call, our port guide's 4-hour plan (the Kasbah viewpoint, a mint tea at the marina and a short stretch of the promenade) is already a gentle day.

Checklist: what to tell us before you book

  • Do you use a wheelchair, a mobility scooter, a walker or a cane? Is the wheelchair foldable, and roughly how heavy is it?
  • Can you transfer from a wheelchair to a car seat, with or without help?
  • How far can you walk comfortably, and can you manage a few steps?
  • Do you need regular rest stops, shade or easy access to toilets?
  • Is anyone in your group able to assist, or will you need help from the guide?
  • Your ship name, date and the hours you expect to be ashore.

With this information, our team can confirm in advance what we can arrange, and suggest a different plan if something does not fit.

Practical tips for the day

  • Heat and sun: even in winter the sun is strong. Bring a hat, sunscreen and water, and plan shade breaks.
  • Pace: one or two well-chosen stops are better than a rushed list.
  • Time margin: our tours are planned around your ship's published schedule, but getting back through the port can take longer with assistance. Leave an extra margin; being back on board on time is the passenger's responsibility.
  • Payment: tours are paid online in advance by card or PayPal, so there is no cash to handle for the excursion itself.

Port layout, distances and taxis are covered in our Agadir cruise port guide. Travelling with children too? See Agadir shore excursions for families.

Tell us about your needs and we will tell you what is realistic: contact our team with your ship name and date, or browse all Agadir shore excursions first.

Frequently asked questions

Are your vehicles wheelchair accessible?

Please do not assume so. What we can arrange depends on your wheelchair and your needs, so contact us before booking with the details from the checklist above; our team will tell you honestly, in advance, what is and is not possible for your day.

Which parts of Agadir are easiest with limited mobility?

The beach promenade and the marina are flat and among the easiest places. The Kasbah ruins, Souk El Had and Paradise Valley are uneven and harder.

Can I see the Kasbah viewpoint without walking much?

The views can be reached by road or cable car, but the area around the ruins has slopes and loose surfaces. Tell us your needs and we will suggest the most comfortable option.

Can a tour be shortened or slowed down?

Often, yes, especially on a private tour: more time, fewer stops or a different route. Ask us before booking so we can plan it with you.
