Meeting Your Driver at Agadir Port, Step by Step

You have booked your Agadir shore excursion, your ship is due in port, and one practical question remains: how do you actually find your driver? This short guide walks you through the morning step by step, from the cabin to the car, and then back to the ship at the end of the day.

It is written by our local team in Agadir and is based on how our cruise pickups work. Port procedures can change from one call to the next, so always follow the instructions in your ship's daily programme as well.

Before your port day: three things to prepare

Most of the work happens the evening before. A few minutes of preparation make the morning much calmer.

  1. Read our WhatsApp message. After booking, we send the exact meeting point and your driver's contact details by WhatsApp before your call. Save the number in your phone and take a screenshot of the message, in case your connection is weak at the port.
  2. Write down your ship's times. Note the time you can go ashore and, above all, the all-aboard time. Our tours are planned around your ship's published schedule, but the all-aboard time printed on board is the one that counts on the day.
  3. Check what to carry off the ship. Some cruise lines ask you to carry your passport or a copy, plus your ship card. Your daily programme will say what is needed for your call.

Your tour is already paid online by card or PayPal, so there is nothing to pay your driver for the excursion itself. A few dirhams are still useful for drinks, small purchases or a tip if you wish; our guide on what to wear, bring and pay with on a Moroccan shore day covers money in more detail.

Step by step: from the ship to your driver

Step 1: Leave the ship when you are cleared to go ashore

Cruise ships berth inside the Port of Agadir, the city's commercial and fishing port at the northern end of the bay, below the Kasbah hill. Wait for the announcement that the ship has been cleared. On busy mornings it can take a little while before everyone is off the ship, so there is no need to rush to the gangway the minute it opens.

Step 2: Go through the cruise terminal or port gate

From the ship, passengers pass through the cruise terminal or the port gate, where passport or ship-card checks can take place. Agadir is a working port, and walking through the working parts of the port is usually not allowed for safety reasons. Some cruise lines run a shuttle bus between the ship and the gate; check with your ship whether one is offered on your call and where it stops.

Step 3: Look for the sign with your name

Your driver waits for you at the cruise terminal holding a sign with your name, at the meeting point described in our WhatsApp message. If several people are travelling on one booking, the sign shows the name used for the booking, so make sure everyone in your group knows it.

Step 4: Say hello and check the plan

Once you have found each other, take a minute to confirm the plan: the tour you booked, and the time you need to be back at the port. Tell your driver or guide your ship's all-aboard time, even if you already gave it when booking. Then it is time to set off.

If you cannot see your driver straight away

Ports are busy places on cruise days, with several ships, buses and taxis at once. If you do not see your sign immediately, do not worry and do not leave with someone else.

  • Stay at the meeting point described in our message rather than walking around the port area.
  • Send a WhatsApp message or call the contact number we gave you. Say where you are standing and what you are wearing.
  • Running late off the ship? If disembarkation is slow, a quick message lets your driver know you are on your way.
  • Decline unofficial offers politely. People may approach you near the port offering taxis or guiding; a simple "no, thank you" is enough.

Clear communication before and during your day is part of the service we aim to give every guest, so please do reach out if anything is unclear.

Getting back to the ship

At the end of the tour, your driver brings you back to the cruise terminal. Allow time to go back through the port gate and any checks, and, where your line runs one, the shuttle to the ship.

  • Keep a comfortable margin before all-aboard; many travellers allow at least an hour.
  • If you would like to stay in town longer, talk to your guide early in the day rather than at the end.
  • Being back on board on time is the passenger's responsibility, so keep an eye on the clock yourself as well.

Frequently asked questions

Where will my driver meet me in Agadir?

Your driver waits at the Port of Agadir cruise terminal holding a sign with your name. We send the exact meeting point and your driver's contact details by WhatsApp before your call.

What if my ship is late or disembarkation is slow?

Send us a WhatsApp message as soon as you can so your driver knows. Tours are planned around your ship's published schedule, so if your times change significantly, contact us so we can talk through the options for your day.

Do I need to pay the driver?

No. Tours are paid online in advance by card or PayPal. Tipping is optional and always your choice.

Can I walk out of the port to meet my driver somewhere else?

Please meet at the point given in our message. Walking through the working parts of the port is usually not allowed, and meeting at the terminal is the simplest way to find each other.
